Touching Lives Through Sports - March 2011

[G2:5999 class=g2image_float_right]During the weekend between Friday 25th and Sunday 27th March, SPYS (Salesian Pastoral Youth Service) organized a residential seminar at Savio College, Dingli. The seminar entitled 'Touching Lives Through Sports' aims at teaching young adults how to educate and develop children's creativity and physical education by means, and with the help, of sports.

Twenty two young adults attended this weekend seminar. Most of them are University of Malta students and chose this seminar as an optional credit. Others decided to join since they often work with kids.

The seminar kicked off on Friday evening with some ice-breaking activities in order to get to know each other. Throughout the whole weekend a variety of sessions were organized by the SPYS leaders in order to show different ways in which kids could have fun through creative games in a safe environment. On Saturday afternoon the participants were also given the task of preparing and delivering such activities themselves.

The aim of SPYS is to develop young people in a holistic way and during the weekend discussions about values, behaviour and attitudes were simultaneously carried out. Besides that, morning reflections and a mass on Saturday evening were held in order for the young adults to experience the spiritual side of their formation.
