Prepared and Ready to Go

With the moon shining brilliantly in the sky, our team brought this year's preparation sessions to a close and bid farewell to yet another group of volunteers. This year an even bigger number of volunteers will be leaving our little island to travel to India and Kenya, 28 volunteers in total! Something new for this year will be the group travelling to Kenya. It is made up of 14 volunteers, 4 of whom are SPYS leaders.

Car Wash in aid for India and Kenya

"That's a Jaguar!" exclaimed one of the volunteers, while pausing from washing the umpteenth car. Sports & luxury cars, SUVs, saloons, hatchbacks, you name it! On Saturday 22nd June, drivers of all types of cars stopped at Msida, next to the Worker's Monument, to get their car washed for a good cause - even local celebrities!

SPYS Pasta Feast

As in previous years, this summer several youths will be doing voluntary work with SPYS (Salesian Pastoral Youth Service). They will be divided into different projects in India and Kenya, working mainly with children. To help raise money for these children a Pasta Night was organised at St. Patrick's Sliema on the 8th of June. This was possible with the help of many volunteers and SPYS members.

EveryBuddy Matters Goes to Gozo

This was held in Marsalforn in conjunction with other entities to mark the conclusion of the European Youth Week in the Maltese Islands. The activity was officially opened by the Minister for Gozo, Dr.

Residential Preparatory Weekend For Volunteers

The weekend of 13 and 14 April marked a big (and tiring!) occasion for SPYS, particularly in respect of the preparations for this year's volunteers in Ghana, India and Kenya. Around 25 volunteers joined in the weekend's activities, which were held in Dingli at Savio College and the Salesian Oratory.

Transforming Volunteering into Social Entrepreneurship

On Sunday 31st March, 20 people from Austria, Belgium, Germany, Slovenia, Poland, Spain, Malta, UK, Czech Republic and Italy came together for a Youth in Action project in Sliema, Malta to learn how to become a Social Entrepreneur. The first night was relaxed as everyone arrived and we got to know one another and recorded our expectations for the following week.

Palm Sunday Activity

It was a beautiful day when SPYS met to celebrate Palm Sunday at the Seminary Chapel in Rabat. Mass was animated with songs, acting and olive leaves but most of all it gave us time to reflect and be thankful for what Jesus did for us. It was a beautiful, united celebration between members from different teams of SPYS.
