Christmas Party Marks the End of an Eventful Year of Activities in Senglea

Another Christmas has come... another season for food and parties: YES! :D

This year, a team from SPYS working on the *YES Project organised yet another Christmas party which was held at the Salesian Senglea Oratory. Preparations kicked off a few weeks before, where plans for games, and of course, food, drinks and sweets, were made.

Bosco Summer School Reunion

During the festive month of December, on the 15th children gathered at the Salesian Oratory Sliema for an afternoon of fun and games at the 4th Bosco Summer School Reunion. The children who attended enjoyed various games organized by a group of leaders from SPYS. The games varied from general sports with tricky twists and games which helped increase the teamwork between each group of children.

EveryBuddy Matters Final Event Kicks Off Today

From the 14 - 16 December 2012 a group of young people and adults from the Salesian Pastoral Youth Service (SPYS) will be adding colour, music and fun for children, youngsters and adults to the streets of Valletta while promoting a message of inclusion through EveryBuddy Matters.

Touching Lives Through Sports – November 2012

During the weekend between Friday 16th and Sunday 18th November, SPYS (Salesian Pastoral Youth Service) organized ‘Touching Lives Through Sports' which is a residential seminar aimed at teaching young adults how to educate and develop children's creativity and physical education by means, and with the help, of sports. 

Training Social Entrepreneurship: Creating and Implementing Future Projects

Training social entrepreneurship kicked off on the 28th October and ended on the 4th of November with around 29 participants coming from 9 partner countries (Belgium, Malta, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Croatia, Spain, Germany and Austria).

Committing Ourselves

On Saturday 10th of November, SPYS were invited to facilitate a morning session for Kummissjoni Festa Esterna Fgura. The group was at their annual live-in, held at Savio College, Dingli. This was the fourth consecutive year that SPYS were asked to deliver such a session.

Sharing of Experiences

The volunteers who embarked into an experience in India, Ghana and Kenya, had the opportunity to share the good, the bad and what could have been better during their adventure in one of the three countries. The evaluation session, the second of its kind after the volunteers came back from their experience, kicked off with an energizer which got everyone up and dancing on their feet.

SPYS Goes Night Hike

On a cool Friday evening, some members of SPYS, met up at Golden Bay for a night hike. This started off with a leisurely walk to Manikata and ending in Xemxija. From Xemxija the path down to Mistra Bay was a bit more demanding. We then hiked through Selmun and Mizieb, full circle back to our starting point. On the way we got to appreciate our surroundings and chat with one another. The hike lasted three and a half hours and we covered about 15km. This event was an opportunity for SPYSers to interact in a relaxed atmosphere.

EBM Weekend

The long awaited EBM weekend finally took place on the 5th, 6th and 7th October in Marsaxlokk Activity Centre. The participants who had been following the EBM project since May, together with the team met up with guest animators, Nico and Agnieska. Nico and Agnieska, who are professional animators, were invited to lead this seminar so as to teach the participants new skills as well as the art of street animation. This weekend was held as part of the preparation for the final EBM event in Valletta, to be held on 14th, 15th, 16th December.

SPYS Annual Weekend 2012

The annual SPYS weekend was a great success this year, it was held onthe 19th, 20th and 21st October at the De La Salle house in Mellieha.The great weather and breathtaking views were an added bonus to this weekend.
