Car Wash in Aid of Volunteering Projects

[G2:6235]Through SPYS, a group of 14 youths, fresh to the Salesian community, and two veteran leaders are embarking on a mission that will change their lives and the lives of many children and young people in Kenya, Ghana and India.

10 years of Strength and Hope

[G2:6230]10 years Don Bosco Youth-Net, 10 years strength and hope, 10 years of networking, exchanging ideas, coming together, getting to know each other, working for and with young people.

What is DBYN about, how did it develop and why it's still there? Lots of questions and if we would ask people who took part in various activities the past ten years we would get a lot of different answers.

YES Cake Sale

[G2:6226]The Salesian Pastoral Youth Services (SPYS) task group YES (Youths Engage in Senglea), which will organise a two week summer camp for young residents of Senglea at the Salesian community this July, held a fund-raising cake sale at St. Patrick's church in Sliema during the last weekend of May. Chocolate, nuts, fruits, sugar, a bag of laughs and loads of teamwork were among the ingredients used by the youths, in baking the many cakes on sale that day. The cake sale proved to be an achievement, raising a considerable amount of the much-needed funds.

Isla goes to Dingli

[G2:6203 class=g2image_float_left]YES did it again! It was the time to organise another get together for the Senglean youngsters and this time we joined forces with the members of Dar Don Bosco, Dingli. All the children were hyped up for this event, some even came wearing their full football gear. It was lovely watching the children playing football, volleyball and basketball together with fellow members of the Salesian family.

Youth of today... ¡VAMOS!

[G2:6152 class=g2image_float_right]Take 27 young people from 11 different countries around Europe, mix them in a training course involving project management and add some flavor from the vibrant city of La Coruña. What do you get?  A tasty cocktail of inspirational ideas and motivation for youth projects on local and international level. With the new found abilities, the empowered volunteers will combat social fragmentation amongst European youth.

My Experience in India – Chantelle Camilleri

[G2:6130 class=g2image_float_left]On the 14th November 2010 I left Malta to make one of my greatest dreams come true: that of doing voluntary work in India. Admittedly, during my flight I felt rather anxious. Questions like  'What will I find there?' and  'Will I make it for  5 months on my own?' kept going round my head. But I need not have feared:  my 5-month  voluntary experience  in India has been the most rewarding one in my life, thus far.

YES Lenten Talks at Senglea

[G2:6107 class=g2image_float_right]The Salesian Pastoral Youth Services (SPYS) task group YES (Youth Engage Senglea), which last year animated for the first time ever a two-week summer camp for young Senglea residents at the Salesian community in Senglea, organised a three day program of lenten talks which were attended by around twenty youths from Senglea.

ISPY and the little 'I'

[G2:6029 class=g2image_float_left]The idea was conceived during the annual SPYS weekend last September, and it was born as ISPY this 9 April. Integrated Salesian Pastoral Youths, or ISPY, brought together about 45 SPYS members, including those from the various task groups, for a morning of activities that were held at the Salesian house in Senglea. ISPY gave the opportunity to each of the members to get to know the others from other task groups.

Touching Lives Through Sports - March 2011

[G2:5999 class=g2image_float_right]During the weekend between Friday 25th and Sunday 27th March, SPYS (Salesian Pastoral Youth Service) organized a residential seminar at Savio College, Dingli. The seminar entitled 'Touching Lives Through Sports' aims at teaching young adults how to educate and develop children's creativity and physical education by means, and with the help, of sports.

Night Hike and Car Hunt

[G2:6012 class=g2image_float_left]As a relatively new section of the SPYS team called YOUNG SPYS, it was noticed that we did not know enough about the other members involved in our youth organization. Hence we decided to send an open invitation to everyone working with SPYS to join us on a small hike through the outskirts of Dingli so that we could get together and socialize as a team. Although it was a chilly night this event brought together more than twenty SPYSers and it was successfully a joyful and relax night out.
