Leadership Seminar

[G2:621 n=2 type=randomImage]In November 2007, 25 young people, mostly University students, participated in a training seminar organized by the Salesian Pastoral Youth Service (SPYS) entitled ‘Take A Lead’ at Savio College, Dingli.

During the seminar, participants were challenged to understand themselves better in order to learn how to work better with others by accepting and understanding the array of characters people can have.

Another summer and another 7 young people have embarked on the challenge that the Salesian Pastoral Youth Service (SPYS) has offered them – volunteering in India. These are some of their feelings that they managed to put into words…many other emotions can never be inked but only experienced.


Playing as a means of intercultural learning

[G2:3901]In August a group of young Salesian animators from the Salesian Pastoral Youth Service (SPYS) participated in an intercultural youth training course in Brussels Belgium. The Course was funded by the European Youth in Action Programme. Based on Don Bosco’s principle that play is a necessary endeavour for young people’s well being, the theme of the week was ‘Fairplay(ing) – Intercultural learning through the use of play’.


FAIR PLAY(ing) Belgium 2007

In August a group of young Salesian animators from the Salesian Pastoral Youth Service (SPYS) participated in an intercultural youth training course in Brussels Belgium. The Course was funded by the European Youth in Action Programme. Based on Don Bosco’s principle that play is a necessary endeavour for young people’s well being, the theme of the week was ‘Fairplay(ing) – Intercultural learning through the use of play’. The theme during the whole week was “Let Your True Colours Shine.” All the activities involved different games and tasks that were all aimed to share new ideas and experience different cultures.

SPYS AT EURIZON 2007

[G2:3042]August had merely started when a group of 17 young dynamic people left our long awaited summer to attend EURIZON, a youth encounter organized every year for all the European Don Bosco youth organizations. The place that awaited them was in the midst of the most beautiful Bavarian landscapes, in 'Benediktbeuern' south of Germany. This assembly was open to everyone and the focus of the encounter was about intercultural learning and values: developing the personalities of young people to help them become active citizens.


Training of DBYN Trainers

[G2:3888]From the 8th till the 15th of April 2007 the Salesian Youth Ministry Office of the United Kingdom hosted the Don Bosco Youth-Net training course: Training for DBYN trainers. The training course aimed at training youth workers and youth leaders from DBYN’s partner organisations to become international trainers.
